This song is one of first lady’s favorite and reflects the compassion and caring for people which lies at the heart of her professional work and her service at Florida Avenue Baptist Church. Mrs. Trent is a graduate of Hampton University, Northeastern University and the University of Florida where she earned her doctorate in Clinical Audiology . She is the owner of Hearing Healthcare services .LLC .in Bowie, Maryland a full service hearing assessment, provider of hearing aids and assisted listening devices. A rapidly expanding practice, the distinguishing mark is summed up in their motto “Hearing the Sweet Sounds of Life. “
Dr. Trent has a passion for helping people. She has practiced Audiology since 1984, in a number of clinical settings. Her diverse career has included 16 years of teaching and clinical supervision at Howard University, Washington, DC and Temple University, Philadelphia, PA. Dr. Trent has also worked as a clinical audiologist in hospital settings and private ENT practices.
In addition Dr. Trent has served as an Audiology practitioner site visitor on the Council of Academic Accreditation for the American Speech Language Hearing Association. She has been spokesperson for better hearing month and is often interviewed by TV, radio and print media regarding hearing health. .
Her service at church includes a myriad of activities as she is always helping and caring. Dr. Trent serves as the Chair of the newly formed Christian Education council which helps to plan and coordinate all the education activities of FABC. She has served as the chair of the women’s ministry and was instrumental in the founding of Our House, a Saturday bible Study, arts and enrichment program for youth. One of her favorite activities is singing in the Sanctuary Chorus.
Raised since childhood along with her future husband, Dr. Earl D. Trent Jr. in the Union Baptist Church of Orange, NJ under the leadership of the late Dr. James Vance McIver, Dr. Trent has always thought of ministry beyond the confines of the church walls. She will quickly tell you her private practice is more than a business, it is a ministry.
