A Workshop to Explore Depression and Foster Compassion for Self and Community Participants in this workshop will explore depression within a personal context and learn new coping mechanisms. An outcome for this workshop will reveal patterns for healing and personal transformation based upon individually lived experiences.

Lent Rite Of Spring

The tradition of Lent as a time of fasting, penance and prayer grew out of the practice of the early church of baptizing new converts on Easter. During the forty day period preceding Easter the new converts would spend time in strict spiritual preparation for their baptism.

On May 3, 2011 Florida Avenue Baptist Church hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony becoming the first African-American church in the District of Columbia to be powered by solar energy.
